(ASL) is a language used predominantly by hard of hearing and the deaf community in U.S.  ASL is a complete and organized visual language that is expressed by facial expression, movements, motions with the hands, as well as lip-mouth movements in addition to other factors such as body orientation; all these actions are considered a crucial part of the grammatical system of ASL. Just like many spoken languages, ASL is a linguistically complete, natural language . ASL is the native language of many Deaf people, as well as some hearing children born into Deaf families. ASL shares no grammatical similarities to any other spoken language, and should not be considered in any way to be a broken, mimed, or gestural form of spoken languages.
